It’s time to delouse your grills, put on your cut-off’s and sandels and revel in the day out barbequing and toking great Cigars. Along with my favorite stogies, I love to drink a drink of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which seemed to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to finally open all of my windows and air out the house. I don’t smoke inside, it required airing out anyway. I tuned up my lawn mower because yes, unfortunately it is that time of the year as well . The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I don’t mind cutting my grass and keeping the grass up. There’s basically a great satisfaction to a great looking lawn and worth all of the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favourite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I like to think of myself as the master cook, king of the griddle. There isn’t anything like lighting those coals and going to the town on abundant meats and veggies. Naturally I think of myself as a charcoal man, I love the flavor of the griddle. If you use gas, it does not get the smokey flavor that I like and is way overrated. I invited all of my friends and naturally the wife and children were there. It is a little to cold to swim yet, but once commemorative day comes around, I will open the pool for the season. My youngsters love swimming and splashing around, I am also known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is a great time to meet up with family and friends and enjoying life they way you need to.
Let the BBQ Season Begin
April 14th, 2010Optaining Your Advanced Humidor
March 17th, 2010There’s nothing greater than lighting up a stogie when it is time to calm down, either after a long days work, on the golfing course and after we take care of something big, like a private and a pro success. And the longer we toke on stogies and become more familiar with stogies – the more we learn about taking care of them. And naturally when we begin to smoke hand rolled, dearer brands, we learn how vital it is to keep them at there ideal level of freshness. You didn’t have to stress about buying a cigar case for your Dutch Master Cigars that you used to buy.So when it is time to travel with our stogies -or even if we only want a better way to store them while going to work or out on small business dinners -we definitely need a easier way to guard there flavour, as well as carry them properly. And selecting a Cigar Travel Humidor should be something that we take somewhat seriously. Truthfully, when you consider it, more folk will see our travel humidor than will see our home or first humidor. So choosing a good, quality travelling humidor should be treated with the same type of thought and detail as when we chose our home humidor. These are some tips for choosing a travelling humidor : These are the basics, but knowing them will prepare you for your search. The Size- fundamentally, how many cigars will you travel with. Don’t be afraid to over do it a bit. Obviously, its better to have more room than not enough. Lid and Seal – Depending on the sort of humidor you want – whether or not it’s a solid case / box -or a leather one – The lid should always close on a cushion of air. We do not desire ANY air within our humidor. Air is the enemy and regardless of size, we must buy a cigar travel humidor that follows the same guidelines as a regular humidor. Inside and Lining – For traveling, our cigar humidor desires fingered surrounding so that our cigars stay nice and snug during our travels -especially for long distance trips. And a good insulated material is always an extra. Humidifier Device – i have seen some guys that essentially paid money on a humidor with no humidifier device – and its a total let down. The Humidifier is the spine of a good, quality travel humidor. That is what controls the interior humidity levels within the cigar travel humidor.
Marketing Towards Teens
March 1st, 2010Many anti-smoking organizations claim that teenagers begin their smoking habits due to peer pressure, and cultural influence portrayed by friends. One report found that direct pressure to smoke cigarettes did not play a big part in adolescent smoking. In that study, teenagers also reported low levels of both normative and direct pressure to smoke cigarettes. An analogous study showed clearly that individuals play a more active role in beginning to smoke than has previously been recognized and that social processes apart from peer pressure must be taken into account. Another study’s results exposed that peer pressure was significantly connected with smoking behaviour across all age and sex cohorts, but that intrapersonal factors were seriously more important to the smoking behavior of 12-13 year old girls than same-age boys. Within the 14-15 year-old age group, one peer pressure variable appeared as a significantly more vital predictor of girls’ than boys’ smoking. It is debated whether peer pressure or self-selection is a greater cause of adolescent smoking. It is debatable that the reverse of peer-pressure is true , when the bulk of peers do not smoke and ostracize those that do. I think that some company’s are using new tricks to get their youngest target to begin smoking. Over the past one or two years, there were many new flavored cigarettes and cigars that are now out in the market. With the flavored cigars, they have a tendency to be less oppressive and smell great so youths are likely to purchase a pack than the natural cigars. CAO Flavored Cigars has changed into one of most popular among some of my chums, who are now in their early 20’s. They say they almost certainly would have started earlier if they new their was such a thing when they were youths. I personally don’t mind either, if flavored or not, but cigarette and cigar firms should keep away from promoting to youths who are really susceptible and may begin a life of smoking, and in the end will regret it.
What’s inside a regular cigar?
February 25th, 2010The majority of a cigar is made of fillers; wrapped-up bunches of leaves inside the wrapper. Fillers of varied strengths are usually mixed to produce desired cigar flavors. In the cigar industry this is referred to as a “blend”. Many cigar manufacturers take pride in assembling the perfect blend (s) which will give the smoker the most pleasure. The more oils present in the tobacco leaf, the stronger (less dry) the filler. Types go from the minimally flavored Volado taken from the base of the plant, thru the light-flavored Seco (dry) taken from the middle of the plant, to the strong Ligero from the upper leaves exposed to the most daylight. Fatter ones like miami suites cigars, have bigger gauge hold more filler, with larger potential to supply a full body and complex flavour. When used, Ligero is always folded into the middle of the filler because it burns slowly.
Quality Cigars and their Production
February 10th, 2010Just as the western european wine industry experienced strain and growing pains as US wine producers gained world accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market facts that they are now not the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality. In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that means ) will not, can not return Cuba to its glory days. The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in many of the nations discussed above, and there is no indication that they will go into Chapter 11 if the embargo is lifted. They’re gaining notoriety and accolades for producing quality products that the united states cigar backer has grown to accept and love.
Only Days till the Cigarette Restriction
December 29th, 2009All Right, my town has chosen a smoking ban for all public building, with only a short list exceptions. I am so done with my rights being eliminated, I am distraught. I don’t fathom why non-smokers have such a stong opinion on what we smokers do. I comprehend that smoking is risky, but I made a conscience choice when I began smoking, observant of the fact it was bad. Just because non-smokers want me to quit, does not mean that it is going to happen. Smoking in restaurants has been a freedom, but most restaurants provide a approved smoking area. If non-smokers prefer not to to be in the smoke, don’t sit in the smoking area, you are not unwilling made to sit in that section. And as far as the employees of these restaurants that state they are affected by second hand smoke, what a joke. I was employeed in the service industry for over 10 years, and I know that almost all of theco-workers were smokers. Doing business with the public, always, compels you to inhale. Also, I have never overheard one non-smoking co-worker ever protest about cigarette smoke while at work in the smoking area. Putting a smoking restriction in restaurants and bars, ultimately will only save me money, for I will not eat out after the January 1st.
All I want for Christmas: Smokes!
December 18th, 2009I have made a decision this holiday to ask for easy gifts that my wife can pick out easily for me. My number one gift, as always, is my well-beloved cigar from meerschaum-pipe.com. My wife doesn’t even have to depart from the condo, she can go on the internet (I have all my favorites sites saved) and make out the order there. As far as anything else, she can go to the local retailer and choose a gift. She mentions every Christmas that I am utterly difficult man to shop for. But we have been together for about 15 years! And if she doesn’t understand the things I want by now, I give up. I continuously mention every December, “get me cigars”, I enjoy 1 or 2 per day, and that adds up. I own a humidor for storing my cigars, “what’s that for?” my wife says. Well my love, it’s to keep my smokes alive. So, if you get me some for December I can hold them in the humidor for a few months and pull one when I am ready to savor one. Although I have to say, I got lucky last year, my wife gave me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The year before, she got me a fishing pole, because I said I would like to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing only once since then, but guess what, I still enjoy 1-2 cigars every day. Well what do I want for christmas this year? I want Cigars, and whatever else would just be an additional pleasure.
